Recruitment by the transit network in my town: 1) screening tests

I especially like the models "rustic." This example has a high floor and the engine is at the front beside the driver. even if the site is called "Driver-Receiver ..." because my dealings with this company have borne fruit. Indeed, this title usually refers to city drivers everywhere in France (except in Paris where they still wear the label "Machinist").

Being selected by a company of this size was not a simple thing ...

Following the application that I had returned (armed with a beautiful letter), I was summoned in the month of June for an afternoon of various tests from an outside search firm the company. The day

tests, we are a small thirty candidates, a total of about 60 whose cases have been deemed admissible. It's a psychologist who received us and makes us take the tests. They proved in principle quite similar to those spent with the AFT-IFTIM , but longer, varied and extensive.

Program:
  • logical reasoning tests: stories flowing from taps, switches that turn a particular piece but not others, sequences of numbers that must find the next .. . Basically neither more nor less than what is typically found in IQ tests!
  • representation tests in space: boxes of various shapes drawn in 3D which he must choose which paper folding in 2D can recreate the same form, diagrams of pulleys and levers effects that must choose which requires more strength, etc.. Short problems that are solved in the end that visually and intuitively, without calculation, and that verify that manages to accurately represent movements of complex shapes in space ... I guess to drive articulated buses in the city center, it might actually be important ;-)
  • a mental arithmetic test, which allows easy whether you go be able to make money on the sale of tickets
  • the icing on the cake that was not present for testing of the AFT-IFTIM: a personality test of 300 questions! It's quite long and a little disturbing because we feel that the test tries to identify truly all aspects of our psychology. only thing missing is the micro-probe inserted into the brain and the lie detector ... Anyway, I think it's best to be as honest as possible because the results will be analyzed by the psychologist, which my gut tells me she has a nose for detecting phonies ...
I think that's all ... It takes a total 3 good hours. In contrast, AFT IFTIM, there is no test of general knowledge and geography. By cons tests are generally more difficult. It feels pretty elitist will pick people who still have a little savvy. As I had said the operations manager a few weeks earlier: "we no longer want just turners wheel!" . I think that is clear.

We are taught that, if successful tests, we will be convened by the recruitment firm, for an individual interview with the psychologist in 1-2 months. No hurry ... that's for sure ... and we do were only the beginning!
